What PanchangMitra does

PanchangMitra is an Android app that calculates the Hindu Panchang for your city and turns it into alarms and reminders. It has four parts:

Today’s Panchang

Tithi, nakshatra, yoga, karana and vara with start and end times, sunrise, sunset, moonrise, Hindu month and Samvat — aaj ka panchang at a glance.

Muhurta alarms

Set an alarm once — “Brahma Muhurta, every day except Friday” — and it rings at that day’s exact time, full screen, even on silent.

Festival tracker

Every festival of the year for your city with a countdown and the puja muhurta: Diwali, Holi, Janmashtami, Navratri, Karwa Chauth and more.

Vrat tracker

Ekadashi, Pradosh, Sankashti, Purnima and Shivaratri: when the fast begins, when to break it (parana or moonrise), and a log of the vrats you keep.

Alarms that move with the sun

Muhurtas are tied to sunrise, sunset and the moon, so they change every day and differ from city to city. A normal alarm can’t follow them. PanchangMitra stores what you want to follow, then works out the exact time for each day.

Example: Brahma Muhurta in New Delhi
21 June4:03 am – 4:43 am
21 September4:34 am – 5:21 am
21 December5:20 am – 6:14 am

Calculated with the same engine the app uses. The app shows the window for your city every day.

Frequently asked questions

What is PanchangMitra?

PanchangMitra is an Android app that shows the daily Hindu Panchang for your city — tithi, nakshatra, yoga, karana, vara, sunrise and muhurtas — and sets alarms that follow them. It also tracks festivals and vrats such as Ekadashi, with puja and parana times.

How is a Panchang alarm different from a normal alarm?

A normal alarm rings at the same clock time every day. Muhurtas like Brahma Muhurta and Rahu Kaal move every day and differ by city. PanchangMitra recalculates each alarm for each day, for your city, so it always rings at the right moment.

Which muhurtas can I set alarms for?

Brahma Muhurta, Arunodaya, sunrise, Abhijit, Madhyahna, Aparahna, sunset, Pradosh Kaal, Nishita Kaal, moonrise, Rahu Kaal, Yamaganda, Gulika, Dur Muhurta and Amrit, Shubh and Labh Choghadiya — plus tithi, nakshatra and yoga changes and the eve and parana of vrats.

How accurate are the timings?

PanchangMitra uses the Drik (observational) method: real sunrise and sunset for your city and the Lahiri ayanamsha. In our checks against published Drik timings for New Delhi, all 93 Panchang values and all 72 festival dates matched, typically within two minutes.

Does it follow Smarta or Vaishnava Ekadashi?

Both. Choose your tradition and the app picks the correct Ekadashi day and shows the parana window — the time to break the fast on Dwadashi.

Does PanchangMitra work offline?

Yes. All calculations happen on your phone, so the Panchang, alarms and festival dates work without internet. Internet is only used if you choose to sign in with Google.

Which cities are supported?

3,745 cities and towns across every Indian state and union territory — every place with a population over 15,000. You can pick your city by name or use your current location once.

Purnimanta or Amanta calendar?

Both. North Indian Purnimanta and South and West Indian Amanta month names are supported, and the app suggests the right one for your state.

Do I need an account? What data is collected?

No account is needed — continue as a guest. Google sign-in is optional. Your settings, alarms and vrat log stay on your phone. There are no ads, analytics or tracking. See the privacy policy for details.

Is PanchangMitra available on iPhone?
