Privacy policy

Effective: Sunday, 25 October 2026

In short:

  • Your Panchang, alarms, festival checklists and vrat log are calculated and stored on your phone. We never receive them.
  • Location is used only when you tap “Use current location”, once, to find your nearest city. The coordinates are not stored or sent anywhere.
  • Signing in with Google is optional. If you do, Google (Firebase Authentication) holds your account: name, email address and profile photo.
  • No ads, no analytics, no tracking, and we never sell your data.

1. Who we are

This policy explains how the PanchangMitra Android app (package com.panchangmitra.app) and the website https://panchangmitra.com (together, “PanchangMitra”, “we”, “us”) handle personal data. Contact us at support@panchangmitra.com.

2. Data that stays on your phone

To work, the app keeps the following in the phone’s private app storage. It is never uploaded to us, and we cannot see it:

  • Settings: language, city, Ekadashi tradition (Smarta or Vaishnava) and month convention (Purnimanta or Amanta).
  • Your alarm rules (what to follow, offset, weekdays, sound, snooze) and the upcoming alarms scheduled from them.
  • Festival samagri checklists and your vrat log (vrats started or completed, and the fast type you chose).

All Panchang, muhurta and festival calculations run on the phone. This data is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its storage.

3. Location

During setup, and when you change city, you can tap “Use current location”. Only then does the app ask for location permission and take a single reading. The phone converts it to the nearest city in the app’s built-in list; only that city is saved. The coordinates are not stored and are not sent to us or anyone else. The app never uses location in the background. You can choose your city by name instead and never grant the permission.

4. Google sign-in (optional)

You can use PanchangMitra as a guest. If you choose “Continue with Google”, sign-in is handled by Google Sign-In and Firebase Authentication, services of Google LLC. Google then shares with the app your Google account identifier, name, email address and profile photo address. The app uses them to show your name and photo on the Today and Profile screens; it does not copy them into its own storage.

Firebase keeps an account record containing your user ID, email address, name, profile photo address, the sign-in provider and sign-in times. Google may also process technical information, such as your IP address and device details, to provide and secure the sign-in. Your profile photo is loaded from Google’s servers. Google’s use of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy and Firebase privacy information.

5. What we don’t do

  • No advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or tracking software is included in the app.
  • We do not sell, rent or share your data for marketing.
  • We do not access your contacts, photos, files, microphone or camera.

6. Permissions the app asks for

PermissionWhy
Location (approximate or precise)Only when you tap “Use current location”, to find your nearest city once.
NotificationsTo show reminders and the alarm screen.
Alarms & reminders (exact alarms)To ring at the exact muhurta time.

You can turn any permission off in Android settings. Alarms or the location shortcut may then stop working.

7. This website

The website is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies and uses no analytics. Like any website, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) for a short time to keep the service secure and running.

8. How long data is kept

  • Data on your phone: until you delete it, clear the app’s storage or uninstall the app.
  • Your Firebase account: until you ask us to delete it. See Delete your account. We act on deletion requests within 30 days.

9. Your rights

Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and other laws that may apply to you, you can ask to access, correct or erase your personal data, withdraw consent (for example by signing out and deleting your account), and raise a grievance. Write to support@panchangmitra.com; we reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

10. Children

PanchangMitra is a general-audience app and does not knowingly collect personal data from children. Children can use it as a guest, with no account and nothing leaving the phone. Anyone under 18 should sign in with Google only with a parent’s or guardian’s consent. If you believe a child has signed in without consent, contact us and we will delete the account.

11. Security and transfers

On-device data lives in storage that only the app can read. Sign-in traffic to Google is encrypted. Google may process sign-in data on servers outside India, under its own safeguards.

12. Changes

If we change this policy — for example, if we add a feature that backs up your alarms — we will update this page and its effective date, and tell you in the app before any new kind of data leaves your phone.

13. Contact

Questions, requests or grievances: support@panchangmitra.com.

This policy is also available in Hindi. If the two differ, the English version applies.
